Why We Choose to Be Certified "Pet Milk" – The Georgia Raw Milk Law
At Timberwoods Farms, we’ve always been committed to providing the highest quality raw milk, crafted with care. While recent changes to Georgia’s laws now allow for the legal sale of raw milk for human consumption, however, we continue to operate under a "pet food" license for a few key reasons.
Georgia’s new legislation, the Georgia Raw Dairy Act (House Bill 1175), now permits raw milk to be sold directly to consumers for human use, but it requires producers to meet strict guidelines, including state permits, facility inspections, and regular health testing. Although we could now legally sell our raw milk for human consumption under these new rules, Timberwoods Farms has been successfully operating under a pet food license for years, providing raw pet milk to our loyal customers.
By continuing under this license, we can maintain the same high standards of care and consistency we’ve always provided, without the need for additional regulatory changes or new systems. Our "pet milk" is made with the same 100% grass-fed, A2/A2, non-GMO milk that we would give to our own families. We’ve always believed that all members of the family deserve the best, and we’re proud to continue providing top-quality raw pet milk in line with Georgia’s laws, as they evolve.
While the law now allows for raw milk to be sold for human consumption, it’s important to note that under our current certification we are still legally required to label our raw milk as "pet milk." So, while we can't officially market it for humans just yet, it’s made with the same love and care we would put into milk for anyone in the family.

It’s Not the Same as Store-Bought Milk Unlike pasteurized milk, raw milk is never heated above 104°F, keeping the enzymes, vitamins, and beneficial bacteria intact.
